DSA-Sec, answered

What is DSA-Sec?

Direct School Admission (Secondary) lets Primary 6 pupils apply to a secondary school based on talent — sports, performing arts, STEM, visual arts, language or leadership — before PSLE results are released. Successful applicants are admitted ahead of the S1 Posting Exercise.

When is the next DSA-Sec application window?

Applications for the 2026 exercise closed in June 2026. The next window opens in May 2027, for pupils entering Secondary 1 in 2028. School selection trials, auditions and interviews typically run from late June to late August.

How many schools and talents can my child apply for?

Through the MOE DSA-Sec portal, each pupil can apply to up to two schools, with up to two talent areas per school. Applications are free.

Is a DSA place binding?

Yes. A pupil who accepts a confirmed DSA offer cannot take part in the S1 Posting Exercise and cannot transfer schools after PSLE results are released. They are also expected to commit to the talent area, usually from Sec 1 to Sec 4.

Does my child need competition medals to apply?

Not always. Many schools state that applicants without formal records may still apply and are assessed on potential through trials, auditions and interviews — though achievements strengthen an application.
